Don't know if this is true...
Via Instapundit:
But if this is true, it's not surprising. Political Correctness has infected every school, including the one I send my kids to.
Looked in Google and the other usual places, but didn't find a mention of it in the news.

I doubt it is true. I know quite a few black women that take offense to the sight of a confederate flag. But none of them would just start hitting someone for carrying one. He probably, during his last moments in that place, called them some epitaph. And the "punching" was probably more like grabbing to restrain a fleeing student. I've spent a lot of time in schools, both as a student and a teacher, and I've never seen any violence that wasn't provoked.
And even if the story were true (which it may be) it has nothing to do with PC, and everything to do with violence. PC accolytes don't fight with fists.

Actually, they do.
When I was in college, one of the fringe leftist "cause of the week" groups, promptly stole every newspaper on campus and called for people to pick it up the next day in the commons. My roommate at the time was a photographer for the paper, so we went and picked up the paper we were missing. Do you think these guys made it easy for us to get a paper? Hell no. We were cussed at, shoved, called names; all because we wanted the school paper which they somehow took offense to (something along the lines of more black reporters on the staff).
And yes, I've seen people that were mild-mannered explode when confronted with something that shook one of their core beliefs. No I don't know the whole story, but the alleged behaviors of these two educators is just sad if it is true. It not only demeans them, it gives attention to something that is normally ignored now-a-days.
And no, I don't like the confederate flag. I look at it like the swastika. It's old, crappy, and usually held by people who don't have much to care about in life, or a clue.

I think up north, people that carry it intend for it to offend blacks, or at least believe in the same connotation you describe. But having gained a Southern perspective on it, it really does symbolize far more than anything relating to blacks for a Southerner. Just as a Swastika meant more to Germans than anything relating to Jews.
Just a report of a Vice Principle punching a student that was simply doing nothing more than wearing a symbol of hate and peacfully passing by is a bit of a stretch. Possible, certainly. But I'd want more than an account written by a biased 17 year old. As long as he's the only source, the story as told remains in doubt.
