Stupid Things To Put In Your Will
This is a true story. My wife told it to me tonight. It involves someone we know pretty well, so I won't post their name or even hint around at who they are. That being said, on with the story.
One of our friends dad's has been sick for a while. He's in his late seventies, so it's not much of a shock that he was most likely going to die. In his will, he had stipulated that he wanted his dog cremated with him when he finally did pass.
Except here's the problem. The dog was 100% healthy when gramps passed on. Grandpa knew this, and was clear (before he died) when he said "I want to be buried with my dog". So the day after grandpa dies, the family had to gather up the dog and put it to sleep so it could be buried with grandpa.
Only in Indiana....or maybe California too....

I love my dogs. That I haven't killed them with my bare hands after all the stains they've put on my carpet, or hair they've left covering every surface of my home, is evidence of just how much I love them.
But killing them just because I want to be buried with them is nonsense. It's gotta be cruelty. How incredibly selfish.
How about: "Cremate me. Here's some money to cremate the dog after his life is lived fully. When that happens, mix us together, and spread us over the park we used to play in."

But see, that would make sense.... :-)
If it was me, there would be absolutely NO way that I would put the dog to sleep. Your idea obviously makes sense, but when someone makes it their dying wish "Kill the dog, so I have a cute looking casket", well, that's just creepy and wrong.
If it was me, it would be "Give the dog to (insert name here) because I know that she will live out her life with love and happiness. Oh, and sorry for the carpet stains in advance."
