How Google pissed me off
Type in "miserable failure" in the search field on Google and what is the first link you get? George Bush's Bio at the whitehouse.gov site.
First of all, neither of the words "miserable" or "failure" appear in the HTML of the page. This means that someone within Google's hierarchy decided to manually push that to the top of the list.
This wasn't done for commerce (i.e. better search results for advertisers), or because of the true relevance of the subject matter. It was done because of a petty political statement. Which only leads me to believe that google isn't as "true and accurate" as most people would feel.
Comments
There are plenty of Google easter-eggs like that in there. It's not just about "matching strings" but making relevant links for what's searched.
And there couldn't be a more textbook example for "miserable failure" than what they point at. :)

How is GWB more of a failure than Carter, Johnson, Nixon, Clinton, etc? Are you really saying that he is "The worst president the United States has ever seen".

As I understood it, this was the result of a Google bomb exploitation of the Pagerank algorithm.
GWB's successes are more a matter of perspective, and thus not worth discussing.

Turns out Dan is right... if you look down to like the #3 or #4 hit, it's a site talking about how everyone should link to the GWB site using "miserable failure" so as to push it up there for the ranking.
Nice. :-)

And in response to Brian.... no matter how much portions of the world may not have respected the US under Carter, for example, there was never the completely open and unbridled hatred for us, even by folks we consider "allies".
At least in the late 70's if you asked the average Brit what they thought about us, it was passable for "ok", ... today it's "those fucking arrogant americans" and such.
He's a foreign policy nightmare that wiil take far longer to correct than it took for him to get us here in the first place. Meanwhile, on the homefront, he seems to take great pleasure in letting Ashcroft use the constitution as toilet paper.
So, yes, I would say that even though I put money in his coffers last election, I would say that GWB is the worst president in the history of the office. (or at least in the 20th century, to be certain)

Derek...are you serious? The rest of the world has hated us for quite some time now, it has very little, if anything, do do with President Bush.
Pretty much everyone in the middle east has hated us for years and years and years. Anyone who has a problem with Israel has hated us for years because of our support of Israel.
It is suddenly 'cool' to not like the US, however, the minute one of these countries has a problem where do they go for help?
However, I will agree with you that Ashcroft is out of control.

Jason is right, the rest of the world has hated/been envious of us for as long as I can remember. Think back to the "peace" protests back in the 1980's when anyone with a "Little Red Book" would shackle themselves to a fence in England or Germany to show solidarity against "American Aggression in Europe". And if you are talking of the recent protests in London, those came in far short of expectations (best estimate was around 30,000 as opposed to the expected 100,000-plus).
Notice how almost every former Soviet Satellite state has come out in support of the war in Iraq. The only two middle eastern countries that haven't been supportive of this are Iran and Syria; not exactly hotbeds of democracy.

Notice how everyone wanting some money came out in support of us. We paid heavily for that support. They wanted aid and investment in return, and they got it.
People hated us because they had good reason to. In the Middle East, it was our support of the Shah that made veryone hate us, Isreal is just gravy and the issue of the day. People hate us because we supported people like Saddam, the House of Saud, and the genocidal maniacs in Indonesia. We may have had reasons, even good reasons, but thsoe were choices that hurt millions of people. So I can't fault them for hating us. Our interests were not theirs.
And D, I don't recall W being President during the 20th Century. As that ended about three weeks before his inaguration. He is certainly the worst President of the 21st century. As well at the Greatest President inthe 21st Century. :)
