Cue the Imperial March
By sheer force of will (and a lack of other candidates), yours truly has been elevated to the following:
Brian Wohlgemuth, President, Hunter's Ridge Neighborhood Association.

Good. Then you can answer me one question:
Where does a neighborhood association get off telling $HOMEOWNER what they can and can't do with their property?
I've known people who put up, say, DirecTV dishes, and then taken a world of shit from their neighborhood association about how they can't do that, blah blah blah.
What's up with that?

#1. Federal/State/Local laws always win out over Neighborhood restrictions. If you want to put your dish on the side of your house, the FCC has granted you the authority to do so without hardship from the neighborhood association.
#2. Associations are somewhat voluntary. They exist to maintain the values of the homes in the addition. Trust me, the last thing I wanted (besides the job) was to be "Evil Prick" when it comes to being the president. The entire point of the association is to provide a central group to make sure no one goes off and builds a 300 foot pole barn in their backyard (or starts a business with a huge sign in the front yard).
