How Do You Spell That?

Public schools shouldn't have "Bible Clubs". By committing government money (in terms of giving them space, paying a teacher who is their advisor, etc.) that's, whether a small or large amount, state sponsorship of a religious organization.

The kids are more than free to speak their minds, just not to use publicly funded resources, such as the school's display case in this instance.

The proper answer to the Federal Equal Access Act claim is for the school to say it erred... NOT in removing the Bible Group's display, but in allowing a "Bible Group" to exist as a school-supported organization in first place, and to dissolve it.

Public Schools should then eliminate any funding for "Gay/Lesbian clubs", since that would be equal to "State Sponsership" of their ideals. Why is it OK to crush the freedom of expression for the Bible-banging kids but not OK for any other group? Would the "Arab-American Kids who are busy five times a day kneeling towards Mecca" be denied the same thing? Or would the administrators say that it's "expanding our horizons" and allow them to form a group.

I personally have no problem if the schools want to allow Bible clubs, satanic worship clubs, Allah clubs, Cthulu clubs, nine of clubs, spikey clubs; whatever they want to form is fine. And if the teacher wants to run the group, as long as it's within school policies, I don't see a problem with that.

It hurts my brain to try to understand why certain individuals think it's fine and dandy to do away with 'privileges' of something as common as a 'bible group,' yet will say it's great to fund the 'gay and lesbian' groups in a high school.

Either take it away from all of them or let them all have it. Don't start picking and choosing.
