The Video

I won't post where I saw the video tonight, but suffice to say I have seen it. There are tons of people out there who say that we deserved it or that probably won't show any emotion since he was just another damn contractor.

But I have to say this. If you think that this is the results of Bush's policy in Iraq, you are right and wrong. Right in the sense that the terrorists are trying to create an uproar in this country over our invasion of Iraq. And wrong, in the sense that this is a random act which wouldn't have happened if the coalition had not invaded Iraq. If you notice, this isn't the first time, nor was it the only one today.

The enemy isn't Islam, but radical Islam. Radical Islam where it's OK to kill your wife or daughter because it might have desecrated the honor of your family. Radical Islam where rejoicing in the deaths of 3,000 people is commonplace. Radical Islam which has called for driving Isrealis into the sea.

How many failed roadmaps, corrupt politicians, and inept organizations is it going to take for this to set in.

Because it isn't just GWB they want dead. It's all of us. And we're in this war together.

Comments

Not that I'm at all condoning violations of international law, the Geneva Convention, or the alleged abuse that we've been hearing about, but I can't help but wonder how people would feel about seeing the individuals shown in that video being led around hooded and naked, on a leash, while being interrogated. Doesn't seem quite so abusive now, does it?

Scott, the abuse thing was bad. There is no way that these guys should get off any lighter for what they did. But I hope it does put into perspective what we are fighting and why we are there.
