One word about the new IMac
Clunky.
Honestly, I would hope for something more out of Apple than a laptop minus the built-in keyboard. While the price is a bit more palatable; to me this thing is more of an eyesore than anything.

There seem to be quite a few of us that think this thing looks like ass. I liked the last design better. One may end up in my apartment at some point anyway, but, I agree, it's not something you would expect from Apple.
Perhaps Jonathan Ives is getting tired?

I think so, this design reminds me of Gateway's abortive attempt at this years ago.

And doesn't IBM make something REALLY similar to this as well? I know they did a few years back.
The night before I left NYC for a week (to escape the Republican National Convention Protester assholes) I walked in a deli in the corner from my apartment...they have a new 'internet cafe' area set up. They had machines that look exactly like these iMacs, but they were black and, obviously, produced by someone else.
Perhaps Apple is back to copying people again?
I'm still convinced they have massive issues with quality control. My powerbook, which I purchased in April, is already making some funky noises when moving the lid. Great.

I was expecting more out of Apple. Even the base is cheesy. My guess is this unit will die a quiet death while the design team goes back to the drawing board.
