Update II: I'm sure it's been blogged before, but did someone throw up a jelly sandwich all over the Boston batting helmets?

Update IV: Talk about good timing, Fox switches over the Astros game just in time for the 9th inning win.

The batting helmets... well, it's like this. Baseball players are superstitious creatures. Some folks won't clean their uniform pants after a win, etc. In this case, Boston won't clean the pine tar (which they put on their band, transferred to their hands by holding the bat, and then transfer to the helmet every time they adjust it) off of their helmets.
It's pretty disgusting looking, actually. It looks like someone has been using their helmets for chew-juice spit-targets, but the superstitious baseball guy in me knows better than to suggest they fuck with it and clean them off. :-)

Hell, if that's the case, then I don't think I want to sit anywhere near these guys. Probably haven't changed their underwear for the past three days.
