Someone Must Love Me
Because of the hundred-plus spam posts on the site over the last eight hours.
I've turned off HTML commenting in the meantime. Do these guys really think that I have that big of a draw to warrant spamming my site?

Have you installed MT Blacklist? If not, you should. It is fantastic. Even if comment spam does get past the filters it gives you a really easy way to get rid of it and rebuild all entries in the process.
Jay Allen created it, you can find it here:

Derek already installed it...but this time it was letting the idiots through. I ended up not only blacklisting it, but also blocked their IP addresses which seemed to stop it.
I wish MT Blacklist had a way to go through and do a mass purge as opposed to having to do each post one at a time.

Actually, we should upgrade your blog to 3.x at some point, and let you use the newer/better MT-Blacklist.
Maybe this weekend I'll have some spare time to work on that.

Yeah bitch, get to work! ;-)

Actually, you can do a 'mass purge' of sorts. Once you have one match entry you can use the 'de-spam' link at the top of the page to have it grab all that match any current entries in your list. It will then remove and rebuild all of those entries.
That saved my ass big time one night. Somehow I got nailed with something like 1000+ comment spams in one night...if it hadn't been for MT-Blacklist I'd STILL be deleting that crap!
