Ten Years

Five kids, a home, and ten wonderful years together is where we are today. Tonight, the wifey and I went to our usual Anniversary dinner (Outback Steakhouse) and we lamented how we wished it was the real thing in the real place.

More later, DeAnn has an interview on Tuesday and (hopefully) Tyler has a pass on Sunday.

Oh, and our anniversary present? I found two prepaid gas cards at the station and didn't think much of it. Took them home and they each had $20 on them. A call to the station and no one had reported them missing. Will call again tomorrow...

Drinking Games With My Four Year Old

Yes, I just played the drinking version of Candy Land with Nathan.

Nathan is still recovering from his surgery, and while he's had some up moments, he has been having some tough nights. He also doesn't want to drink, because his throat hurts, etc. He is also not a big fan of ice cream or popsicles at this point, so it's tough to get anything in to his little body.

So, instead of forcing water down his throat, and playing on his love of board games, dad invents the Candy Land Drinking Game. Pick a card, take a drink of water. Repeat for the entire game. In the end, he ends up drinking all the water in the glass and I don't have to fight with him to not be dehydrated.

Crickets and Secretaries

August 15th. A wonderful day....

The first day of school.

The only noise in the house at the moment is a cricket in the hot tub room and Hallie (my secretary....black, fuzzy, and with a wet nose) wandering around the house.

Nathan is passed out on the couch, not surprising after he had his Hydrocodone this morning. His face swelled up a bit last night, so called the doctor and stopped his Amoxicillin for now.

Yeah, he's back to normal....

Making brownies with Hannah, and we have a "brief" fishing trip planned for later this evening.

Nathan Update

Came home from surgery yesterday, and no major problems at this point. He doesn't want to drink as much as I (and the doctor) would like him to, but we'll just keep on him about it!

And he's going to be fine. Groggy from anesthesia, DeAnn said to Nathan something along the lines "I'm sure you are not going to want to go fishing today...". Nathan perks up for a second and starts going "Oh no mommy, I'm ready!" and then promptly passes back out...

Hmm....answers to an ADHD question

I have always thought a lack of a good night's sleep really screws with a kids mental health. Maybe this observation has some merit to it!

Nathan: Under The Knife

Tomorrow afternoon, Nathan will be going under the knife to get his tonsils removed. Everything should go smoothly, but anytime a little one goes under.....

More later....
